Av-Comm supports joint Australian and United States naval communications

For 5 years, Av-Comm’s field team have been providing periodic Preventative Maintenance and Inspection (PMI) at Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt. The station is a joint Australian and United States naval communication station located on the north-west coast of Australia.

During Av-Comm’s time at HEH, the team have conducted essential upkeep and sustainment services, ensuring that a mission critical satellite communications link remains operational despite the harsh weather conditions of the area. In such harsh conditions, periodic antenna washdowns are an important way to minimise the effects the salt water and red dust have on electronics. Routine maintenance is essential at reducing the impact of storms, heat, salt water, and other weather events that can cause catastrophic damage to satcom systems.

During our visits the Av-Comm team has conducted inventory checks, cataloguing all equipment, including spares, and reporting back of any missing/damaged equipment, site issues and/or any concerns.

Av-Comm’s work has proved crucial to the operation of the Satcom infrastructure of the HEH site and illustrates our capability to deploy to remote secure locations to support satellite ground station assets.
