Celebrating the successful launch of Ariane 6!
Congratulations to ArianeGroup and the European Space Agency on the successful maiden launch of Ariane 6. The rocket, with 2 boosters, can carry payloads of about 4.5 tonnes to geostationary transfer orbit or 10.3 tonnes to low Earth orbit. NASA’s CURIE (CubeSat Radio Interferometry Experiment) was a rideshare payload on this flight, launched from the Guiana Space Center in French Guiana. Although not a commercial mission, it deployed three sets of research micro-satellites, marking the flight a success. Notably, the Vinci engine powering the upper stage was restarted in space for the first time, demonstrating its capability to place payloads into multiple orbits.
